Mr HOPPER says the family is relying on media reports for details about his whereaboutsand they'd heard this morning on Channel Nine's Today Show that Mr HABIB was being heldnorth of Kabul.

He says he'd renounced his Egyptian citizenship when he migrated from there to Australiain the early 1980s.
